More glamour for Lotus Trooper

Range-topping Lotus van takes off-road bling to new levels

For the last few years the ‘king of bling’ in the Australian heavyweight off-road caravan market, Melbourne’s Lotus has hit back at emerging rivals with a new, show-stopping update of its range-topping Trooper caravan.

The “all-new, all-improved” Trooper LC4000 model is, according to Lotus Caravans’ boss George Josevski  “a first for the Australian caravan industry, featuring some of the most unique designs ever seen on a caravan”.

Taking back ground from the likes of top-selling Jayco, which unveiled an outlandish XPLO off-road model at last year’s Leisurefest, Josevski said in a promotional video that the new 2018-model Trooper features a  “whole new fresh look unseen in the industry”.

“Running the silver checker plate, new-style graphics, new colour on the outside, we’ve blinged this thing right up,” he enthused. “I don’t think there’s anything like it on the marketplace with such wow factor.”

Like all Trooper caravans built since 2015, the new model is underpinned by a “truss system” galvanized chassis, to save weight, along with Control Rider independent coil suspension, also from G&S Chassis.

“It is by far the strongest, most superior chassis available on the off-road market in caravanning,” he claimed.

Like the latest Lotus-built Universal slide-outs, the Trooper is clad with German composite panels on a Meranti timber frame, with choice of black, grey or shiny silver checker plate body armour, while the ‘bling’ continues inside with  Diamond Gloss laminate bench tops and the choice of two lounge styles.

“This new glamourous look that we have come up with and created is all about how we can be different, how can we look great…” Josevski said.

With pricing extending into six-figure territory, the Trooper comes with a top-end power system including 200Ah lithium batteries, Redarc battery manager and 600W solar panels, along with other niceties like a Fusion stereo, front LED spot lights, reversing camera, 190 litre fridge, air-condtioner, oven, 24in TV, washing machine, and two water pumps to draw water from the three freshwater tanks (239L capacity) and 110L grey water tank.

The Trooper is available with eight floor plans, in body sizes ranging from 18ft 6in to 22ft. The new Trooper will take centre stage at the Lotus display at this week’s Victorian Caravan Supershow.
