$500,000 family motorhome headlines Pre-Christmas Caravan SaleAnother monster Queensland-built off-road motorhome will be a star attraction at this year’s Pre-Christmas Caravan and Camping Sale, which kicks off October 25 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
Build by Gold Coast-based Paradise Motorhomes, the new FTS Explore 4x4 motorhome is based on an Isuzu FTS 139-260 4x4 crew cab truck, powered by a 191kW/761 Nm 7.8-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, with six-speed auto and 11,900kg GVM.
It’s loaded with off-road features including spring loaded body mounts, a full aluminium sub frame, custom bull bar with winch, custom roof rack, Raptor paint protection, and air bag suspension.
It’s also equipped for serious off-the-grid camping, with a 600L fuel tank and 600L fresh water tank, a 200ah lithium battery system with 1800W inverter and 600W solar panels, a generator and four 4kg gas bottles.
No expense has been spared on the custom interior layout either, with the driver’s cabin equipped with leather-trimmed, air assisted seats and a portable fridge, and the living area featuring a queen bed, bunk beds, club lounge, full-size kitchen, and ensuite with separate toilet and domestic shower.
Some of the appliances fitted include a satellite-equipped HD TV, gas oven/cook top, water filter, 218 litre compressor fridge, 3kg front loader washing machine, diesel heater, and two air-conditioners.
According to Paradise Motorhomes’ Clint Ward, the $500,000 motorhome was “built for a cattle farmer from northern Queensland who came to Paradise with a vision for a large 4X4 motorhome that other manufacturers turned away”.
As well as the Paradise show-stopper, the Brisbane show will mark the re-launch in Queensland of Viscount Caravans, while Swift’s new off-road Trail brand will have a new fibreglass body version of its latest 15ft off-road hybrid caravan on display for the first time.
Show-goers will also get the chance to win an MDC Explorer rear-fold camper trailer worth $12,990.
Dubbed Queensland’s biggest caravan sales event, the Pre-Christmas Caravan and Camping Sale will showcase more than 50 RV brands, with many major manufacturers represented including Jayco, New Age, JB, MDC, Roma, Avan, Avida and Winnebago.
More than 40 camping and RV accessory suppliers will also sell their wares at the show.
