Less than 24 hour hours after being lambasted on social media for leaving behind a very messy campsite, the culprits have come forward and promised to make up for their sins.
The Lake Navarino Holiday Park in Waroona, Western Australia, got an overwhelming response to some photos it posted on Facebook this week, after some thoughtless campers left the bush campground area without cleaning up their rubbish.
"We had some lovely young campers that have no respect for our beautiful campgrounds leaving their rubbish behind even though we supply bins and free rubbish bags," the park said.
"These people don't realise that if things are left like this there will be nowhere left to camp as they will be closed down. Thanks to local resident Sean that helped clean up the site.”

Close to 300, mostly abusive comments were left on the park's Facebook page, with one referring to the lazy campers as “maggots’ while another said the park should "name and shame them if you know who is responsible. They can be fined $500 plus cleanup costs".
However, the power of social media was also at play, with the culprits fessing up a day later and offering to mend their ways.
“The people responsible for the condition that the campsite was left in have come forward, apologised and offered to spend a day cleaning up so hopefully every body has learnt a lesson from this that this is not acceptable," the park said in another post. "Thank-you to all those people that supported our point of view."
The comments were more complimentary this time, including "it’s not often people take responsibility for their mess but good on them for doing so" and "Well done to them for owning up and doing the right thing".
