The organisers of this year's Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow are promising the “biggest party yet”, adding a number of new features to boost the show's appeal in its 60th year.
One of the new attractions at the 2014 Supershow, which kicks off on March 6, is a display of classic caravans, which promises an eye catching spectacle similar to the vintage van display at last year’s South Australian show.
A new main stage will host family-friendly entertainment throughout the six-day event, including product demonstrations, seminars and celebrity appearances.
As well as the chance to win great prizes like a $10,000 voucher in the Passport Competition, showgoers can also enter to win a one-off 23ft family caravan valued at $75,000.
Proceeds from the raffle of the 'United Haven Caravan’, jointly built by Melbourne RV manufacturers Royal Flair, Elite, Nova, Van Cruiser, Crusader and G&S Chassis, will go to the Kids Under Cover charity.
As well as free show bags and Dora the Explorer performances on stage, children also get the chance to win a $2000 Caravan Cubbie in the Caravanning Explorer’s Club Passport competition.
Altogether more than 400 exhibitors, showcasing the latest RVs, accessories, services and travel destinations, will be crammed into the Caulfield Racecourse precinct, occupying 43,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space.
Shopping around for a new RV will be made easy with around 100 different brands displaying the latest on- and off-road camper trailers, caravans, pop-tops, slide-ons, fifth wheelers and motorhomes.
Among a raft of fresh new models expected are the latest German/Aussie 'Knaus by A'van' caravans, not to mention Australia’s answer to America's Airstream, the Aerovan.
For the first time, multi-day and VIP tickets are available, enabling visitors express entry to the show for three days as well as a VIP show bag and lanyard, complimentary tea and coffee, morning or afternoon tea and a VIP relaxation area. Free public car parking has also been introduced.
Tickets can be pre-purchased at the Victorian Supershow website or at the gate.
Now at its fourth venue since the first show in 1954 at the Arts Centre on St Kilda Road, the Melbourne show runs from March 6-11 at the Caulfield Racecourse. ??
