The 2017 Melbourne 4x4 Show is promising plenty of new kit for RV travellers and campers, including the public debut of a new ‘mega-tourer truck’ from Queensland’s Patriot Campers.
“This is going to be the best touring vehicle to ever come out of this country,” Patriot boss Justin Montesalvo said about the Queensland manufacturer’s latest show vehicle, which has been tricked up with components from leading off-road specialists TJM, Airbag Man, Redarc and Mickey Thompson
Patriot will also display its latest X1 and X2 camper trailers at the Melbourne show, alongside new models from other premium Australian off-road camper builders including Aussie Swag, Complete Campsite, Track Trailer and Ultimate, as well as South Africa’s Conqueror.
Catering more to the budget end of the market will be exhibits from Sydney’s Cub Campers, along with other entry-level camper trailer brands including Blue Water, Black Series, EzyTrail, Lumberjack, MDC, Predator, Skamper Kampers, Stoney Creek and Opus. Relatively new Victorian off-road slide-on camper specialist Gecko Campers will also have two new models on display.
A big line-up of guest presenters at the show will include cricketing larrikin Merv Hughes, 4WD guru John Rooth, fishing celebrity Paul Worsteling, and footballer turned TV travel presenter ‘Spida’ Everitt.
As well as a Campfire Cooking Stage, the show organisers have promised a new ‘Basecamp’ attraction, described as an “an interactive presentation featuring your favourite exhibitors in a free and fun campground environment”.
A 41-page Bargain Hunter’s Guide is also available online for the first time, highlighting hundreds of show specials in the one publication.
The National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo runs from August 18-20 at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Flemington.
