Caravans for families, couples and even kids are being given away at the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, which runs February 11-16.
The major prize in this year’s Passport to Freedom competition, open to all Supershow attendees, is an 18ft Nova Metrolink family caravan worth $48,000, which also comes with 12 months’ cover from CIL Insurance.
Second prize is a compact.teardrop-style Avan Weekender van with rear tent, also covered for one year by CIL Insurance and valued at over $12,000.
A visit to the Caravanning Explorer’s Club, an entertainment hub for children, at the show could also result in a cute, vintage-style Caravan Cubbie for the backyard, valued at $2000.
This year’s Melbourne Supershow will be held for the first time in its 61 year history at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Flemington, allowing exhibitors to spread out over 60,000 square metres, or around 40 per cent more space than at the previous venue, Caulfield Racecourse.
Australia’s biggest caravan show is also set to have an even more patriotic feel than recent years, with the vast majority of the caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes on display (representing 90-plus brands) manufactured in Australia.

Surprisingly, no big American fifth-wheelers are listed as exhibits, perhaps reflecting the recent downturn in that sector of the market.
Punters will also struggle to find any RV models with direct links to China, despite their growing popularity among budget buyers.
The most obvious 'foreign' no-shows include the now Chinese-owned but still Australian-built Regent Caravans and the big-selling, Chinese-built Market Direct Campers.
