Fresh from displaying its latest 15 Anniversary models at the 2022 Queensland Supershow, Brisbane-based MDC is set to rip the covers off its updated AUSRV XL MKII hybrid caravan range at the Melbourne Leisurefest show at the Sandown Racecourse on October 6-9.
The first of the new AUSRV MKII off-road hybrid pop-top models -- the 13ft XL13E MKII couple's camper and larger 15ft XL15-4E MKII family bunk van -- are both aimed at rough-road adventurers and come loaded up with more internal and external features than before.
Updates and additions include an all-new graphics scheme, Milenco TV antenna, and from 100 to 350 watts additional solar power depending on the model. The new MKII models also now come with an under awning annex as standard.
Other standard features across the MKII range include MDC's design patented 'AeroLocker' front storage box, power-operated roof-lifting mechanism, 200AH lithium battery and Projecta battery monitor, Trail-Assure electronic stability control, wireless rearview camera, and a diesel heater and air-conditioner.
Weights for the updated off-road hybrid pop-tops range from approximately 2150kg Tare for the 13ft model, to around 2300kg Tare for the 15ft family van. The ATM for both is 3000kg.
The layout of the 15ft family van includes twin bunks and a slide-out king bed, internal seating, kitchenette and combination shower and toilet, while the 13ft model gets a slide-out king bed, dinette, kitchenette and combination shower/toilet. Both models also come with an external kitchen and outside shower, along with independent off-road suspension and coupling and two spare wheels.
MDC said the new AUSRV MKII range is a step up from other similarly priced Chinese-built hybrids available on the market.
"These exciting new generation of off-road hybrid caravans have been through a full year of testing and development and feature a comprehensive list of safety and comfort upgrades and inclusions with a build quality beyond what the market segment is used to seeing in this price range," MDC said in a media statement.
Pricing starts at $69,990 for the 13 foot model with the 15 footer starting at $74,990.
According to the MDC website, limited stock of both models is currently available for immediate delivery from some of the eight MDC showrooms located around Australia.
