Top-selling imported brand MDC has officially released its first toy hauler camper, designed for families who like to take their motorized toys with them on holidays.
The new Chinese-built MDC XH7.4 Xpedition Hauler was developed in conjunction with the All 4 Adventure TV program, and blends design elements from the Queensland-built Patriot TH toy hauler released around five years ago, with MDC’s entry-level forward-fold tent campers.
Featuring an auto-opening roof, the XH7.4 toy hauler sleeps the whole family off-the ground under canvas with its main queen sized bed, and large U-shaped lounge/dinette that converts to another bed for up to three kids.
Cooking is outside on a pull-out stainless kitchen with three-burner cooktop and sink with hot/cold tap, alongside a 95 litre slide-out fridge.
Designed for serious off-road adventures, the MDC toy hauler camper rides on a tough steel chassis with tandem coil independent trailing arm suspension, Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling, 12in electric brakes, and 16in alloys and mud terrain tyres, with the two spare wheels tucked up underneath.
Other standard equipment includes a 9kg gas bottle and two 80 litre water tanks with pump, Redarc battery charger and 1000W inverter and full set of annexe walls.
The 2.3m x 3.0m alloy rear deck is big enough for a Polaris side-by-side ATV, a couple of quad bikes or a number of dirt bikes and other motorized toys.
It measures 7.44m long and 2.3m wide overall, with the Tare weight listed on MDC's website at 2140kg, with a ball weight of 300kg and ATM of 3500kg.
The MDC XH7.4 Xpedition Hauler is priced at $49,990, which undercuts the cheapest Australian-built toy hauler from Patriot Campers by around $11,000. However, the Patriot 610 toy hauler has a much lighter 1580kg Tare and includes some premium features like airbag suspension.
