MDC launches double-fold camper

New Opus-like, off-road family model from major Chinese camper importer
Always pushing the boundaries, MDC stirred the pot yet again at the recent Melbourne Leisurefest by displaying a new model, double-fold, family off-road camper trailer with loads of included equipment that retails from $25,990.
With its two separate 1950 x 1650mm beds folding longitudinally out from the centre, the aluminium framed and aluminium and checker-plate clad XTT Double Fold is a departure from MDC’s normal hard floor campers, which feature a single folding section.
In this respect, the XTT is similar in operation to the British designed and Chinese built Opus camper, while its concept of beds at both ends is

rather Jayco camper-esque.

The huge U-shaped lounge at one end with a height adjustable table that drops to form a third sleeping area, is also very Opus-like, but the XTT trumps all of its conceptual rivals with its list of included features.
Equipped with a 100mm x 50mm x 3mm steel chassis, with independent trailing arm suspension, dual shock absorbers per wheel, 12-inch electric brakes and 16-inch Toyota-fitment wheels, the XTT is off-road ready.
Meanwhile, its standard equipment includes a full stainless-steel slide-out kitchen, a 14-litre hot water service, 120 litres of fresh and 80 litres of grey water storage, a portable toilet, twin 100AH AGM batteries, a single 120W solar panel, a DC charger, a 1000W inverter, two 9kg gas bottles, two jerry can holders and a front tool box with two fridge slides.
The tent section itself covers 18sq.m. of living space in the camper and its included 5.6m x 2.4m annexe, can be folded away with the main tent section once its supporting poles are removed.
As with other MDC campers, hybrids and caravans, the XTT is manufactured at MDC’s own Chinese factory, but is fitted with most of its mainstream appliances from companies like Dometic, AL-KO and Projecta before final quality control at the company’s Brisbane factory. It comes with a five-year structural, chassis and drawbar warranty.
