Big-selling RV importer MDC is extending its move into the growing off-grid caravan market, with a new range of 13ft to 19ft models with enhanced off-grid capabilities set to hit the roads in 2024.
While yet to announce any pricing or specification details of the new upmarket Chinese-built models which are set to make their public debut at caravan shows in early-2024, the Brisbane-based importer said its new ACPLUS MKIII range will boast "unparalleled advancements in off-grid electrical capabilities, as well as featuring a completely reimagined interior and exterior look".
MDC says top-spec models in the new MKIII range will be fitted with a new Projecta electrical system with 1225 watts of solar panels on the roof feeding into a 600Ah lithium battery set-up, and together with a 3000watt inverter and 180amp AC and 75amp DC charging capabilities providing enough power to run on-board appliances including an air-conditioner, induction cooktop and wall-mounted washing machine.
MDC says the the new ACPLUS electrical system was designed and tested in
collaboration with Projecta Australia, and it's a step up from the 400Ah lithium battery/ 1225W rooftop solar/3000W inverter system announced recently for its $100K range-topping 19ft van.
Top-spec models in the new MKIII range will also be fitted with more European appliances including a Truma Aventa rooftop air-conditioner and AutoTerm 2kW diesel heater, along with more upmarket fittings including black sinks and tapware, new wireless phone chargers, an ARK jockey wheel, and a new drawbar mounted storage box and external service ladder.
The range-topping MKIII caravans' new-look exterior will also include new slimline tinted windows and bold green exterior decals that MDC says will add to the "MKIII's contemporary yet rugged aesthetic".
"The ACPLUS MKIII range represents a significant leap forward for MDC," MDC's Managing Director Vaughan Hindley said. "We've focused on enhancing not only the offroad capabilities but also the overall experience for our customers.
"The improved electrical systems, striking exterior, and modern interior showcase our commitment to innovation and progress."
