Popular imported RV brand Mars Campers showcased its latest hybrid off-road family camper at the 2021 Victorian Caravan Supershow.
Retailing for $34,990 but advertised with a 'show special' bonus Truma reverse cycle air conditioner, the new Mars Ranger X blends the set-up benefits of a strut-assisted pop-top caravan roof with all the advantages of a compact off-road camper set-up including a pull-out stainless kitchen with four-burner gas cooker and sink with mixer tap, Cruisemaster D0-35 coupling and independent trailing arm coil suspension.
The compact internal layout is designed to accommodate a family of four with a large double bed and rear padded bench seating, with some space for a pull-out table to create a dining area and a bunk bed that slots above the rear lounge/lower bed for sleeping a fourth child.
Designed for navigating tight off-road tracks, the Ranger X boasts compact travel dimensions (5.44m long by 2.0m wide by 1.85m high), with a stated Tare of 1600kg and 2200kg ATM delivering a decent payload of 600kg.
Electrical switches and displays for the two (120L and 75L) water tanks are located near the slide-out kitchen, while controls for the audio and TV entertainment systems are located inside.
Other features on the Ranger X include 16in alloy wheels with chunky off-road tyres and two rear mounted, off-road jockey wheel and corner stabilisers, a bag awning, front mesh stone guard, fridge slide, and provision for two 9kg gas bottles.
Also part of the package is a three 100Ah battery system with 30A charger and 1000W inverter, and a variety of internal and external closed storage options.
Optional extras includes a SmartTek hot water unit, 300W roof mounted solar, rear toolbox, bike holder and an innerspring mattress instead of the standard foam beds.
