Camper trailer and hybrid specialist Mars is taking the Australian caravan establishment head-on, with a new range of larger well-equipped, full-size hybrid caravans, priced sharply from $72,000.
Unveiled at the 2023 Melbourne Leisurefest, the two new Chinese-sourced but locally assembled fixed-roof, single-axle 17ft off-road vans stand out with their striking red, black and white exterior colour schemes and dual external and internal kitchens.
They also come loaded up with standard features including a hot dipped galvanised chassis and independent Pedders suspension, a 270Ah lithium battery system with 400W rooftop solar and 2000W inverter, and a rooftop air conditioner and diesel heater, 170L fridge, microwave, washing machine, a powered awning and reversing camera.
The Jupiter 17 HR floorplan includes a front king bed, cafe dinette, kitchenette and rear ensuite with separate shower and toilet, while the four berth Venus 17 HR layout gets a slide-out king bed along the offside wall, to go with a front club lounge/dinette, kitchenette and rear ensuite with separate shower and toilet.
Weight-wise, the new Mars Jupiter 17HR comes in with a 2650kg (approx.) Tare/3050kg ATM and has a starting price of $74,999, while the Venus 17 HR hybrid caravan has a 2600kg Tare/3050kg ATM and is priced from $71,999.
