Little Wombat

This interesting little package, designed and built in the Gold Coast hinterland, Qld, is part campfire and part barbecue

Dubbed the Little Wombat, it allows you to cook your food and enjoy traditional barbecue flavours, and when you're done, you remove the grill and frying plates to convert it into its alternative function, a portable campfire.

It can operate on a range of fuels such as timber, coals, charcoal or compressed wood logs. The manufacturer claims that you don't need a lot of fuel, thanks to its dual-walled fire box filled with insulation material so the heat is focused upwards not outwards.

It doesn't have any vents, so the ash won't fall out below, and the lids work as an overnight fire box cover as well as side trays when cooking (they're also detachable so you can use them as trays to serve food from or as a lap tray to dine from).

The whole unit packs down into a heavy duty cotton canvas carry bag, and comes complete with a DC-operated rotisserie.

It sells for $360 plus $30 postage from www.littlewombat.com.au
