
American Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey and whiskey brand Wild Turkey have teamed up with Australian upmarket camping retailer Homecamp to offer a special-edition canvas tent for glamping enthusiasts.
An avid camper and caravanner, McConaughey had personal design input into the limited-edition Wild Turkey x Homecamp Trust Your Spirit tent, of which only 150 will be made.
Based on the 19th-century design of the Shelter Half/PUP tent, the two person tent features a high pitched 1.5m roof, 'Ezy Pitch' set-up, two roll-up flaps that can be used as shade awnings, mesh screens and groundsheet protection.
Homecamp says the retro tents are made from premium, waterproof materials, and approved for use in 60km/h winds.
In a neat touch, the individually numbered tents come built-in with Matthew McConaughey’s very own narrated campfire stories that can be unlocked via a QR code on the tent’s exterior.
According to the promotional blurb: "McConaughey’s vision was not just simply to design a tent, but to craft a camping experience to inspire Aussies to escape to the wilderness while doing their part to protect it."
Proceeds from each Wild Turkey x Homecamp Trust Your Spirit tent go towards the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, to support the continuous bushfire regeneration efforts. The 150th tent will also be auctioned off for charity.
