Lightweight recreational trailer hits the market

All-aluminium Road Warrior Adventurer is light enough to be towed behind a motorcycle

Outdoor adventurers looking for a super lightweight and compact 'camping base' trailer now have a new option to choose from, with the Australian-built Road Warrior Adventurer trailer now available for sale priced from $10,500.

Designed, engineered and tested over a number of years, the new Adventurer base trailer is built to last and boasts a purpose-built aluminium chassis, fitted with proven AL-KO independent rubber suspension (IRS) axle, along with alloy wheels and corner stabilisers.

New Adventurer trailer weighs just 600kg fully laden

The red and black powdercoated aluminium body features a large, central storage compartment that's accessed by swinging open the tailgate and lifting the gas strut-assisted, L-shaped lid.

There are also two sealed side storage boxes, with lids that double as picnic tables when opened, and a front 'toolbox', that combined deliver 1400 litres of storage space for carrying a load of camping gear such as an ice box, sleeping bags, tent, a BBQ and gas bottle, along with other cooking items and tools.

There's also a sturdy 'roof rack' with four adjustable corner supports, that's designed to carry a rooftop tent or other larger recreational gear like a mountain bike or kayak.

The Road Warrior Adventurer measures 2.27m long overall, 1.57m wide and 1.7m high with the roofbar supports fully extended. The base trailer weighs just 230kg unloaded, with a 45kg towball mass and a rated ATM of 600kg, meaning it can be towed behind just about any four-wheel vehicle, as well as some motorcycles and trikes.

Options include rooftop tent and awning

"We tow it behind both," Road Warrior Campers' founder Kris Umhauer said.

"It's more suited to a car or trike, but weighing 230kg and designed for inline with bike trailer laws, it can be towed by a bike but would require a larger capacity bike, like a Harley-Davidson Ultra or Electra Glide, a Honda Goldwing or a three-wheel Can-Am Spyder."

Options available include 10in electric drum brakes, an engineered 50mm swivel coupling (that allows a motorcycle to lean into corners when towing), an aluminium drawer system, iKamper rooftent, side awning, insect mesh room, and a biomass or gas-powered cooker.

Based in Leopold, Victoria, Road Warrior Campers is also working on a more compact, lighter version of the Adventurer, specifically for towing behind motorcycles.
