Electronics giant LG is the latest global brand to dip its toes into the booming camper trailer segment.
The South Korean manufacturer of fridges, TVs and other high-volume home-goods and gadgets unveiled the latest version of its futuristic Bon Voyage box camper concept at CES 2024, the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition held annually in Las Vegas, USA.
Designed by its LG Labs innovation outfit, the compact camper is jam-packed with LG's latest innovation and is described as a "customized living space designed to extend the life quality at home out into the nature".
Measuring 7 feet high, 6.6 feet wide, and over 12 feet long, the latest Bon Voyage concept is a scaled down version of a larger tiny homes-style trailer unveiled by LG under the same name in 2023.
While it has many of the features of more traditional camper trailers, like a slide-out kitchen, combination shower toilet and internal bedding, the Bon Voyage offers a few novel tech features like a digital 'smart' display on the inside of the entry door, rain showerhead, shoe 'sanitiser', bespoke wardrobe, wine fridge and an external TV that can play campfire vision if you forget the firewood and matches!
"Based on customer feedback, the Bon Voyage has been redesigned to the size of a camping trailer, optimizing space utilization and mobility," LG Electronics said in a media statement.
"With dimensions of 2-meter width, 3.8-meter depth and 2.2-meter height, it can be furnished with various furniture and appliances, including a bed, refrigerator, electric stove, water purifier, Styler and shoe care products. Its versatility allows for comfortable enjoyment anywhere, with the ability to be easily parked indoors and connected to a car."
