Lego van gets world record

A life-sized caravan built entirely from Lego bricks has entered the Guinness Book of World Records

After 12 weeks of construction, more than 1000 man-hours and 215,158 individual Lego pieces, the largest caravan built with interlocking plastic bricks has made its public debut at the Motorhome and Caravan show in Birmingham, UK.

The amazing, life-sized camper was built by a team of 12 professional Lego builders and measures 2.2m tall by 3.6m long.

The all-plastic model is based on a real German Knaus ‘teardrop’ style caravan (as required by Guinness World Records guidelines), and features fully-functioning amenities including a sink with running water, electric lights, a bed, seating, a chess set, toothbrushes and even simulated cooking facilities and fridge.

The Lego brick caravan is being displayed alongside its real counterpart at the show and was created to celebrate 130 years of leisure caravanning in the UK. It was certified the world’s largest by an official Guinness World Records adjudicator and will appear in the Guinness World Records 2016 Edition.
