$385,000 all-electric Lightship caravan enters production

First batch of cutting-edge American-built travel trailers start rolling out from the factory

The first futuristic off-grid caravans from American start-up Lightship are finally starting to roll out of the factory.

The five-year old company said it's begun production of its first AE.1 Cosmos Edition all-electric travel trailer at its Broomfield, Colorado facility, while also announcing that it's introducing two new cheaper trim offerings for its flagship model: the AE.1 Atmos and AE.1 Panos.

Lightship said the first 50 highly-specced production 'vans that went on sale in late-2024 priced at USD$250,000 (AUD$380K), have sold out, with first deliveries to customers by the end of August 2025.

"The Cosmos Edition proved that the market is hungry for electric RVs that don't compromise on performance or design," said Lightship Co-Founder and CEO Toby Kraus, who also previously worked at Tesla.

"Now we're opening those doors wider. Atmos and Panos bring our vision of sustainable adventure to more families and adventurers, regardless of their camping style."

All three variants come fitted with Lightship's proprietary TrekDriv intelligent propulsion technology system that's designed to double the range of either EV or more conventional ICE tow vehicle.

"Operating independently, it senses acceleration, braking, and cornering forces, then adjusts in real time for smooth, synchronized support," the American manufacturer said.

Priced from USD$184,000 (AUD$283,000) and due to roll out around mid-2026, the new Lightship AE.1 Atmos comes standard with 1.8kW of integrated solar roof panels and a 77kWh battery system (same as the top-spec AE.1 Cosmos Edition).

While the new entry-level AE.1 Panos, with a starting price of US$151,000 (AUD$233,000) gets 840W integrated solar roof panels and a 44kWh battery system.

Both models can be optioned up with a motorized awning and a third bed among other customisations.

Other notable features of the 26ft 7in (overall length), 3720kg ATM Lightship caravan range include an auto-raising roof structure and auto-leveling and stabilizing system, a 'Lookout' camera system, and weight distribution hitch, while both luxury couple and family ensuite layouts are available.
