Melbourne’s Cell Caravans has added another American brand to its growing range of imported RVs.
Unveiled at the 2012 Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, the Lance Avalon is a 15ft 11in (4.84m), single axle caravan that features an electric slide-out for increased living space.
With a Tare of around 1400kg and ATM of 1800kg, the Avalon is designed to be towed by smaller vehicles yet packs an impressive list of features into its compact design.
The laminated fibreglass bonded exterior features bold graphics and Dometic tinted windows, while it rides on a torsion independent suspension.
The interior layout includes a queensize innerspring bed at the front, kitchen areas in the middle and shower/toilet towards the rear.
The slide-out section adds 800mm of space and includes a four-person dinette with underseat storage that can be accessed from an external locker. The lounge seating also converts to another double bed.
External storage includes a large, slide out, removable plastic tub that sits in the front tunnel boot for easier access to items.
Power-operated stabiliser legs, jack and awning make setting up a breeze, while the gas bottles are stored in a plastic container on the drawbar.
Other features include solar panels, reverse cycle air conditioning, iPod compatible audio system, two-door three-way fridge, fibreglass benchtops, and a sink, cooktop and microwave. Interior light is taken care of by LED lighting and a large Heki hatch.
There are three tanks: a 100 litre freshwaster, 100 litre grey and 100 litre black.
Unlike the Cruiser RV models already offered by Cell Caravans, which arrive in Australia around 90 per cent complete, the Avalon is fully-built at Lance Camper’s production facility in California to comply with relevant Australian regulations.
“The beauty about the Lance is it’s all built in the factory in America, whereas with our other products, we still have to do a little bit to them (when they arrive in Australia),” said Cell Caravans’ general manager, Josh Ryland.
Ryland said the plan is to import at least two other models from the Lance Campers range, including a 21ft, tandem axle, three bunk family van that weighs about 1900kg.
The Lance Avalon is priced at $52,950 (towaway, Victoria) and like some European-built vans, comes with a two year warranty as well as a five year water ingress warranty.
