Kratzmann creates medi-van
This is one caravan you’d prefer not to spend too much time inMost caravans are built for rest and relaxation but here’s one designed more for repair and recovery.
Part of the Queensland Ambulance Service fleet of emergency and medical vehicles, this Supreme Territory caravan recently had its interior layout redesigned by Queensland dealer Kratzmann Caravans to make it better suited to its role as a mini-hospital on wheels.
As explained on Kratzmann’s Facebook page, the renovations included dismantling the front double bed and converting the area to a more practical ‘sick bay’ with single bed, close to the separate shower and toilet.
Kratzmann also cut out and installed a wider door to allow access for a stretcher bed, and put in heavy-duty slide-out drawers to store medical and other supplies.
The rear of the van is largely untouched from the original ‘grey nomad’ layout, retaining a large kitchen and spacious leather club lounge for the ambos to kick back and relax after a hard day treating patients.
Resplendent in its bright green and red Queensland Ambulance colours, the working caravan is a regular sight at festivals and events as well as rescue efforts around serious floods and storms.
