Kombi camper offers stylish wedding transport
A fully-restored Volkswagen wedding van in the UK demonstrates another great use for the classic Kombi camperWe’ve heard of campervanning honeymoons and seen plenty of classic Kombi campers running about, but being delivered to the wedding chapel in a suitably stylish VeeDub van, is something a little out of the ordinary.
Catering to this seemingly growing market is a UK business that not only provides brides and grooms with something a little different to get to the alter, but also something a bit more roomy and fun than traditional wedding transport like a Jaguar MkV saloon.
With no curtains, cooktops or fold-down tables in sight, the converted 1966 VW Kombi available for hire from VW 4 Weddings features an inviting, soft cream and tan leather interior with plenty of room on the bench seats for the bridal party, as well as a flowing wedding dress and bunches of flowers.
Being a rarer, Splitscreen model, the Kombi nicknamed ‘Faith’ has 21 windows in total (including a pop-out Safari windscreen), and a rag-top roof that folds back on sunny days and allows for some terrific, champagne-popping photos.
To create even more attention, ‘Faith’ has been lowered and fitted with American Eagle chrome alloys to match the original chrome deluxe trim.
As self-described classic VW enthusiasts, business owners Andy and Sally Gray also have another, slightly more practical 1960s Splitscreen Kombi in their collection, which they use for camping holidays.
