Kimberley toy haulers for China

Air-suspended Kimberley off-road campers with new quad bike loaders set to tackle Chinese sand dunes

Following the sale of a range-topping Kruiser caravan to an Abu Dhabi buyer, innovative Australian off-road RV manufacturer Kimberley Kampers is tapping another potentially lucrative export market with a new quad-bike carrying version of its premium hard-floor camper.

Kimberley boss Bruce Loxton says the NSW-based manufacturer is meeting demand in China for a fully-equipped but still relatively lightweight off-road camper that can carry a quad bike as well as accommodate up to 12 people.

In order to carry and load a 350kg Polaris 600 quad bike on the roof safely, the campers are fitted with height-adjustable independent airbag suspension.

Pushing a button drops the camper to allow the ATV to be loaded on ramps from behind, after which the trailer is raised to a suitable height for travelling.

Additional safety for the up to two tonne, fully laden camper is provided by electronic assisted disc brakes, while the bike loader can be removed when not in use.

“There is an exciting market in China for carrying off road ATVs (we call them quad bikes) as well as taking your camping trailer with you,” Loxton explains on Kimberley’s website.

“There is no other product that we know of globally that will allow you to carry this weight together with a fully equipped off road camper trailer.”

The export units will also be fitted with a larger Bedouin-style awning big enough for up to 12 people to sit under and to expand undercover sleeping options.

“The new awning is called Meng Shou which translates as monster in Chinese. It allows you to ‘dock’ two additional bedrooms on the side,” he says.

“The first units are shipping to China in a few weeks in time for the great ATV race in the desert.”

The quad bike holder is also available locally as an option on the latest 2015 Kimberley Limited Edition and Platinum hard-floor models, which start from $46,400.
