Kelly camper price slashed
Price of new, Queensland-built XC-1 bush camper reduced by $5000Just over a month after its release, Queensland-based Kelly Campers has slashed the starting price of its new, entry-level bush camper, from $29,990 to $24,990.
Kelly Campers’ boss Dave Willoughby said he had managed to reduce the cost of manufacturing the compact XC-1 camper at his Bundaberg factory, partly through negotiating discounts from suppliers, and decided to pass the savings on to buyers.
“We’d like to get more people into them as well, so we’ve decided to pass everything on rather than put it in our pocket, and really try and get some out there,” he said.
Pricing for the bigger and more expensive Glenrowan camper is unchanged.
Meanwhile, Kelly Campers is currently testing a prototype of a third, and new range-topping model due for release shortly.
“It was a custom build for a client… they’ve been in Tassie doing some casual testing for us,” he explained.
“It’s similar to the Glenrowan, but we have ncorporated the toolbox and everything into the main part of the body, and that has given us the flexibility to slide the bed forward about 700mm and offer a permanent dinette area.
“It will be a good option for longer term trips, and make it easier to sit and watch TV at night and your partner can be in bed at the same time,” he said.
Willoughby said the new, top-spec model will start from around $75,000, or about $10,000 more than the Glenrowan II, but it will have more equipment fitted as standard to justify the premium pricing.
