Jurgens Caravans has named its new flagship model after the Victorian town where it’s manufactured.
Bigger in all aspects than the Victorian company's previous range-topping Lunagazer van, the Tooradin is aimed at “people who want something a little bit larger right across the board,” according to Jurgens Caravans’ Gerard Cloney.
With a Tare of 2250kg and 2800kg ATM, the four-berth Tooradin has a 6.95m long body (or 8.1m overall), is 2.45m wide, and 2.8m tall (including roof-mounted air-conditioner).
It’s available in two layouts, both of which include a walk-around queen-sized bed, lounge/dinette, kitchen, and full ensuite.
But whereas one layout features a conventional north-south front bed and rear ensuite, the other offers a more unusual 45 degree angled bed. This has allowed room for an external, slide-out, camper trailer-style kitchen to be fitted, which includes a sink and mixer tap, drawers and two-burner cooker.
“We’ve still managed to keep the nice features inside, but we’ve angled the bed to make ourselves a little bit different to everybody else,” explained Cloney. “And because we angled the bed that gave us some extra storage capacity for a few other things, including the outdoor kitchen.”
The interior design has an upmarket, contemporary feel, with an emphasis on curves and soft, rounded edges. “If everything is square you look like everybody else,” he said.
While adopting some of the features of other Jurgen models, luxury touches like a glass-fronted wine cooler and two-tone timber furniture help set the Tooradin apart and give it “a bit more bling”.
Priced at $67,990, the dual axle J2601 model on display at the NSW Caravan, Camping, RV & Holiday Supershow also featured bright red trim on the lounge and walls to create further interest.
Along with a cassette toilet, vanity, and washing machine, the ensuite includes a “a full mirror for the ladies” as well as Jurgen’s trademark moulded shower with built-in seat.
Among the long list of standard features on all Tooradins are a bike rack, two 80 litre water tanks, four burner gas/electric stove, gas oven and grill, microwave, 181 litre fridge/freezer, house battery, LED lighting, and reverse cycle air conditioner.
Like other Jurgens models, the Tooradin comes with a three-year factory warranty, and features an Al-Ko coupling, independent rubber suspension and galvanised chassis.
The body is built from composite walls and one-piece aluminium roof, and is fitted with double glazed windows.
