Jurgens has made its tough South African-built TuffTrax more appealing to grey nomads, unveiling an updated version of the 14ft 3in (external body length) off-road hybrid pop-top at this month’s Outdoor Leisure Show in Lismore, NSW.
Most of the changes to the 2019-model Jurgens TuffTrax XP1850 have occurred inside the compact interior, with couples no longer required to convert a rear U-shape lounge to a main double bed at night.
Instead, the new TuffTrax layout features a fixed (1900mm x 1300mm) double bed at the rear, with a new café lounge/dinette up front that converts to a (1770mm x 700mm) single bed at night.
Other new additions inside include a storage area that runs along the rear of the dinette, two 12V fans and twin USB charging points, while externally the 2019 TuffTrax gets a new, relocated slide-out external kitchen and roof-mounted solar panel to charge the standard 100Ah battery.
Instead of two bag awnings (one on each side), the latest TuffTrax features a single and more user-friendly Fiamma F45 wind-out awning on the onside, incorporating two drop-down awning poles for support.
Other standard features are carried over from the previous version, including external shower, 110L compressor fridge, portable toilet, two 9kg gas bottles, gas/electric hot water unit, Cruisemaster XT suspension and DO-35 coupling.
Tare weight is up slightly to 1560kg, with an ATM of 2000kg.
“We are excited about this new iteration,” Jurgens marketing manager John Hughes said. “It is dimensionally the same (as the previous model) with the same legendary toughness.”
The 2019 Jurgens TuffTrax is priced from $54,990.
