Jayco unveils new toy hauler for tradies

Brand new 11ft Jayco CrossHaul work 'n play camper priced under $30,000

Jayco has ripped the covers off an all-new entry-level toy hauler, aimed at tradies and off-road adventurers who want a lightweight cargo carrying trailer during the week that they can pack up with the toys and take camping on the week-end.

Unveiled on the Jayco website, the new 11ft Jayco CrossHaul hard-wall camper trailer is a compact, lightweight, rear-door camper with enough travel room inside for some tools, mountain bikes or other boys' toys, thanks to two single beds that fold up against the interior walls.

"This great little RV comes with Jayco’s Tough Frame wall construction, JTECH 2.0 independent coil suspension and hot-dipped galvanised endurance chassis," the Dandenong, Victoria-based RV manufacturing giant said.

"With a spacious rear living/cargo garage, catering for those on the tools during the week and toys on the weekend there’s no need to compromise on comfort and capability.

"It sleeps up to two people with two-fold down single beds. The space is maximised with removable storage tubs and includes 100 AMP battery, large front toolbox and tie-down points for mountain bikes, surfboards and more."

Other features include 15in alloys with all terrain tyres, electric brakes, rooftop solar panel, battery charger, roll-out awning and external fridge slide and tray for a BBQ or portable cooker.

Pricing is expected to be from around $27,000, which will place the CrossHaul somewhere between (in both pricing and body size) the 9ft 4in JPod mini-caravan range and the larger 13ft-16ft CrossTrak hybrid camper.

Expected to arrive at Jayco dealers soon, the single-axle Jayco CrossHaul will boast a Tare weight of approximately 1000kg and around 190kg towball mass. The fibreglass body measures 3400mm long by 1975mm wide, with an interior height of 1523mm, travel height of 2305mm and 4860mm travel length.

Given its work-and-play focus, Jayco is currently running a cross-promotion with hardware retail giant Bunnings to help launch its first, all-new model for 2021.

The new CrossHaul is larger but similar in concept to the prototype 'Jpod Utility' toy hauler displayed at the 2020 Melbourne Supershow, which at the time had a drive-away pricetag of around $18,000.

Jayco also displayed a 10ft Work N Play toy hauler 'expander' at the 2018 Queensland Supershow, with drop-down rear door/ramp unlike the top-hinged door on the new CrossHaul.
