Surprise, surprise! Seven out of the 10 most popular make/models searched by buyers on the caravancampingsales website in 2021 were from Jayco.
The most viewed make-model in the 2021 calendar year was Jayco's Expanda family model, with advertisements for the popular expandable caravan attracting more than 600,000 online views over the past 12 months.
Second most popular was the dirt-ready Jayco Swan Outback camper trailer with more than 537,000 views, while many buyers also searched for Toyota Coaster campervans for sale, with more than 532,000 views.
Also ranking highly in buyer searches was another popular motorhome base, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, with other Jayco models including Starcraft, Sterling, Swan, Freedom and Journey Outback also featuring in the Top-10 buyer search list.
Both new and used Jayco caravans, campers and motorhomes remain hot property during the pandemic, with available stock at dealer yards snapped up quickly, and long waiting lists for the latest models from Jayco's mega-manufacturing facility in Dandenong, Victoria.
While sales are booming it's been another challenging year for the 46 year old RV manufacturer, with Jayco struggling to attract enough workers to fulfil its objective of building as many as 14,000 RVs in 2021 - a 30 percent increase over the previous year.
Other challenges included a 'no-show' policy and a $75,000 court fine for misleading a buyer about their consumer guarantee rights, although the Australian RV giant did manage to roll out a couple of interesting new model variants during 2021 including a tradie-friendly JPod teardrop camper and new Kombi-style colours for its entry level ensuite campervan.
