How would you like to go on an all-expenses paid RV trip, cruising and camping in a brand-new motorhome and visiting all the best spots in Australia for a period up to 12 months?
Well, Australia's biggest RV manufacturer is offering just that, although there's a catch: the lucky person, couple or family who gets the gig will need to get behind and in front of the camera on a regular basis, creating and posting entertaining and interesting content about their travels en-route.
Jayco's latest 'World's Greatest Job' promotion is seeking to employ a Jayco Caravan Correspondent on a contract basis for a period of up to a year, with the keys to a new Jayco campervan or motorhome for the contract period, a salary and travel allowance, and camera gear, phone and laptop, all part of the deal.
According to the Seek ad the annual salary for the Jayco Caravan Correspondent role sits somewhere between $70,000 and $80,000, and the good news is you don't necessarily need to be a social media influencer or prime-time celebrity with a huge online following to get the job.
“This is more than a logistics gig. We want to find someone who can help capture content of our
beautiful country and inspire Australians to hit the road and explore their own backyard,” said Scott Jones, Jayco's National Head of Sales and Marketing.
“Whether you’re a first-time caravanner or a seasoned roamer, if you’ve got a passion for storytelling, we want to hear from you.”
Jayco says it will even provide some training before you hit the road.
“This role is about personality and passion, not perfection,” Jones said. “We’ll teach you everything you need to know about RV life. You bring the energy – and we’ll provide the tools to help you tell your story.”
The successful applicant will also get the "opportunity to explore Australia's coastlines, outback towns, rainforests and deserts", with a "brief that literally says: create content, chase sunsets, and make memories".
The 50-year-old manufacturer said the role could even serve as a launching pad for a career as a full-time traveller and content creator.
To apply, you need to fill out the online application form on the Jayco website, and include a 60-second video.
It's not the first time a big company has offered a 'world's best job', with American beer brand Michelob Ultra once advertising for a beer-guzzling, van-life-lovin' CEO (Chief Exploration Officer). While closer to home, Dometic's Follow the Sun promotion offered three-month road trips and caravan make-overs over a number of years.
Meanwhile, Retreat Caravans has also just made a call-out for online content creators. However, instead of supplying a 'van it's wanting to pay existing Retreat owners for "inspiring, authentic content" it can use across the Retreat Caravans website as well as its social media channels.
As well as getting paid for your "high quality" photos, videos and stories promoting the off-grid camping lifestyle, Retreat says those selected as roving content creators for the 19-year-old manufacturer will get "access to future perks, gear and exclusive collaborations".
You can apply on the Retreat Caravans website.
