Jayco has given its smallest caravan an update for 2022, including beefing up the roof-racks to a 300kg load rating so they can better support a rooftop tent for family camping.
First introduced in 2017, Jayco says the latest version of its lightweight, teardrop-style JPod camper also benefits from an "improved shape", including an edgier front sloping roofline that promises more headroom above the bed at the front of the camper, and easier fitment of a glass solar panel to the front roof section.
"With an improved shape, the 2021 JPod range includes a heap of new features Aussie couples and single travellers looking for compact adventure won't be able to ignore," the Australian RV giant announced on social media.
Along with a less rounded profile, Jayco says the latest JPod gets other construction enhancements including a sandwich panel one-piece roof, internal fibreglass wall finish and new rear door design.
Lighting upgrades include updated rear LED taillights; a new LED roof strip light and bed lights with an inbuilt USG post.
Rated to hold up to 300kg, Jayco says the JPod's redesigned roof rack will be "suitable for the soon-to-be-released ‘Escape by Jayco’ optional rooftop tent range and batwing awning".
The Jayco JPod continues as a two-model range, with the entry-level Sport getting features including a slide-out kitchen, side awning,100Ah battery and 45 litre portable fridge, while the more off-road oriented JPod Outback adds Jayco's Outback endurance chassis with Jtech 2.0 independent suspension, checker plate protection, a large front toolbox, 150W solar panel and a large rear tent among other extra features.
Pricing has increased across the range, with the JPod Sport now priced from $21,190, and the Outback version starting at $26,690.
