With more and more families choosing to buy a caravan or motorhome these days, Jayco has added to its family-friendly RV range with the release of its first four-berth JRV campervan.
The new Jayco JRV FD.19-4 campervan is based on the 6.37m long, front-drive Fiat Ducato Maxi van with 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine and nine speed auto.
The new four-berth model is similar to the two-berth Fiat Ducato based JRV camper, but adds a pop-top roof which lifts up to reveal a double bed mattress area. The loft bed area has two screened, zipped canvas windows for ventilation, and is accessible by ladder from the front seating/dining area, which incorporates a removable table and four seats -- a fixed forward-facing bench seat with two seatbelts, and the two swivelling driver and passenger front seats.
Other standard features including a hot water unit, audio system, electronic control panel, 100Ah house battery, 4kg gas bottle and 90 litre fresh and 80 litre grey water tanks.
Access from outside to the living space is via a passenger side sliding door or the twin rear barn doors, with storage space in a small rear 'boot', a shelf above the driver's cab, and in a few overhead and kitchen cupboards.
The van on display at this week's Victorian Caravan Supershow was also fitted with an adjustable arm for a TV on one of the inner walls, a glass lidded two-burner gas cooktop, an 85 litre fridge and a sink with mixer tap, along with an enclosed combination shower/toilet 'wet' room.
It had a driveaway price of $136,940 which included an Autoterm diesel air heater with single duct (an $1960 option).
For those looking for a family motorhome with a few more creature comforts, Jayco also displayed its range-topping, 29ft Iveco based four-berth Optimum slide-out motorhome, with a driveway price almost twice the JRV camper at $272,447.
It also displayed another 'loft bed' family-friendly RV option, with a Jayco JPod Outback pod camper fitted with optional Escape hardlid rooftop tent which turns the tiny pod trailer into a four-berth family camper. The tow-away price was $27,990.
