Jayco has ripped the covers off its first 50th Anniversary model, due to be launched in 2025 as part of a fresh range to celebrate half a century of manufacturing by the Australian RV giant.
The Dandenong, Victoria-based manufacturer displayed two prototypes of new 'Jayco 50' Discovery hardtop caravan models at the Melbourne Leisurefest show. It's the first time Jayco has used the Discovery badge for around 10 years, after selling a range of Discovery pop-tops during the 1990s and early 2000s.
The two 2025 Discovery prototypes on display included a 21.66 Outback caravan with slide-out, with a show-special price of $90,490 that included optional Silverline-like green kitchen cupboard doors. The other 19.61-2 Discovery van on display was priced at $79,678 which included Sambar leatherette upholstery instead of the standard fabric.
In a departure from the 'green theme' at this year's Victorian Supershow, the new Discovery vans sported a more retro exterior look including a new 'sandy taupe' colour, bronze decals and, on one of the prototypes, bronze spoked alloy wheels of a style that was popular back when Jayco produced its first camper trailer in 1975.
Other exterior highlights on the MY25 Discovery vans included a colour-coded picnic table, gloss black rear taillight mould, Bluetooth rear camera and a more accessible chassis-mounted gas bayonet.
Both prototypes had stylish couple's ensuite layouts, with the smaller 19ft Discovery's standing out with matte blue cabinet fascias, while the bigger 21ft van's interior had a combination of matte tan and olive green cabinetry, together with marble-look benchtops and black tapware.
Few other details were provided on the stand. However, a Jayco salesperson said it's likely that there will be a number of changes made to the final production versions, based on customer feedback.
