Jayco CrossTrak rides the waves

Melbourne RV giant targets millennials with latest adventure-seeking 'vanbassadors'

After going down the gourmet traveler and young family routes, Jayco has added some glamour and grunt to its growing list of ‘vanbassadors’.

Perth-based, 24-year-old professional surfer and model, Imogen Caldwell picked up a Jayco CrossTrak hybrid camper in August before hitting West Australian hotspots with fellow professional surfer, cray fisherman and fiancé Cortney Brown.

According to the press release Jayco enlisted Caldwell, who also spruiks Otis sunglasses and O’Neill beachwear to her 136,000 Instagram followers, as its first millennial vanbassador "to encourage more young Australians to hit the road and connect with the great outdoors“.

“My family owns a campground in North WA, Red Bluff Quobba Station - so camping, travelling and adventure has always been a big part of my life,” she said.

“My upbringing in remote North WA has had a huge influence on my love and passion for the great outdoors."

Jayco National Sales Manager, Scott Jones, said pandemic-affected 2020 has seen interest from young travelers looking to purchase new and used RVs "skyrocket”.

“This year has forced most consumers to look for alternative holiday options and we’re seeing more millennials than ever before hitting our roads and enjoying all the wonderful sights our country has to offer,” Jones said.

“In fact, people between the ages of 25-34 now account for the biggest percentage of our website traffic. Interestingly, one of our biggest growth segments this year has been the 18-24 age group.

“The younger generation relish in unique experiences, have a great sense of adventure and enjoy freedom and flexibility – all of which can be achieved through a caravanning holiday,” he said.

Pet dog gets to go along too!

Caldwell joins other Jayco 'vanbassadors' including country singer, Mollie McClymont, and Australian ironman veteran Wes Berg and his family.

The hybrid CrossTrak, which was introduced in early-2019 as an entry-level hard-wall compact camper, is also starring in the latest series of off-road travel show All 4 Adventure, including being dragged through the dirt and sand in remote areas of the Northern Territory.
