Jayco has dropped pricing of its new, top-spec J-Pod teardrop camper by $2000 and introduced a new, entry level ‘tradies’ version from $9990.
Priced from $12,990 and with a Tare weight of just 495kg, the J-Pod Lite comes standard with a 1.37m x 1.88m interior mattress, roof hatch, ceiling, awning and rear door lights, 240V plug and three 12V powerpoints, and the rear tent.
In addition to that, the mid-spec, $15,990 Touring model gets an A-frame toolbox, 4kg gas bottle, gas bayonet, 12V external socket, basic slide-out kitchen, roof racks, Bushtranger 2.5m awning, three 12V sockets, reading lights, 100Ah battery, storage tubs and wall pockets and a control panel.
While the range-topping, 738kg Tare, J-Pod Sport (from $17,990) also includes a 45 litre water tank and 12V pump, premium slide-out kitchen, and a 40 litre fridge with dedicated socket.
All J-Pods measure 1.825m wide by 2.035m high by 4.07m long, and are fitted with a 50mm ball hitch, galvanized chassis, leaf spring suspension and 14in wheels.
Apart from different coloured side decals, the Lite and Touring models are differentiated from the grey and black-coloured Sport by their white fibreglass composite exterior panels.
The new entry-level ‘Tradies’ version from $9990 will basically be offered as an empty shell, allowing owners to carry work tools and goods during the week, then load it up with camping and other recreational gear on the week-ends.
