Jayco founder Gerry Ryan has added to an already extensive portfolio of interests and governance positions, with a recent appointment to the board of the government-funded Visit Victoria.
The new entity will be the leading body for tourism and major events in the state combining the Victorian Major Events Company and Tourism Victoria.
The 10-person board also features former Essendon AFL club chairman and Toll Holdings managing director Paul Little and Sir Rod Eddington, who will serve as Deputy Chairman and Chairman respectively.
Ryan’s appointment was welcomed by the two leading RV industry associations in Victoria.
“I am personally looking forward to working with Gerry and Visit Victoria to shape the future of caravan and camping tourism in our state as we are well placed to assist in the implementation of the Victorian Government regional strategy, Wander Victoria,” CIA VIC CEO Rob Lucas said.
Victorian Caravan Parks Association CEO Elizabeth White said VicParks was “delighted” at the appointment.
“Gerry has a significant track record in developing and delivering quality visitor experiences for tourists and we are confident that he will provide the Board with valuable insights into planning for growth in regional economies,” she said.
Ryan is also on the board of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia, as well as chairman of Global Creatures, the company behind the high-profile King Kong and Walking with Dinosaurs stage productions.
