Huge Golf range for Brisbane show

Revived Golf brand tees off with huge display of new, Victorian-built models at this week's Queensland show

The largest range of Golf camper trailers, pop-tops and caravans ever displayed in Brisbane is lining up for the 2014 Queensland Caravan & Camping Show from June 4-10.

This follows the purchase of the 38-year old Queensland caravan and camper trailer maker two years ago by Australia’s second-largest caravan maker, Avan, and the subsequent transfer of manufacturing to Pakenham, Victoria

Teeing off for its Australian debut as part of the huge River City RV display will be a new single-axle17ft Golf Savannah full height caravan that’s expected to be called the Savannah 525 and to wear a low $60,000 price tag when it goes on display at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

The second-largest of the revamped and expanded Golf Savannah pop-top and caravan range, the new model will substantially undercut the $79,990 tow-away price of the 19ft and 2200kg Tare weight tandem-axle Savannah 637 luxury caravan first shown at this year’s Melbourne and Sydney caravan supershows.

Like all Golf models, from campers to caravan, the newcomer will be in off-road capable spec.

Based on the layout of the Avan Frances 525 hardtop, but with similar equipment to the smaller Golf Savannah 499, standard equipment on the new 17ft Savannah will be an island north-south queen bed and a full separate shower-toilet ensuite.

However it will be a more basic model, missing out on many of the goodies of the flagship Savannah 637.

Also on display at Queensland will be the smallest of the new Golf Savannah range – the 11ft 6in pop-top Savannah 402, that was a show special $42,990 tow-away in Melbourne.

As well as an enlarged Golf camper trailer range, which includes the novel hard-wall, folding shower-toilet Challenger 4, Avan has introduced seven new Golf full-height caravan and pop-top models in the past 18 months since it re-started Golf production in Victoria.

Beginning with the Savannah 402 pop-top, the range now includes both hard and pop-top Savannah 499 and 563 models, the new 17ft Savannah van and the 637 van.
