Unless you’re travelling regularly, you’re bound to forget some of the steps required to set up your caravan
Here’s a checklist supplied by Tow-Ed, one of the largest providers of caravan towing courses in the country, that can be adapted to suit your particular needs:

1. Park caravan on site
2. Install wheel chocks
3. Install jockey wheel
4. Reduce load distribution system tension (if fitted)
5. Remove load distribution system (if fitted)
6. Engage caravan park brake

7. Unplug vehicles/caravan electrical connectors
8. Release hitch tension
9. Disengage coupling system
10. Remove safety chains
11. Make sure the caravan is level

12. Wind down the four caravan stays
13. Turn on gas at main cylinder valve
14. Unlock and open front shade
15. Open main door
16. Take out entry step and rubber door mat
17. Connect 240V power lead to caravan and power box and turn on

18. Connect water drain pipe to caravan and place end in sullage outlet
19. Connect water hose to caravan and water tap and turn on
20. Put up TV antenna
21. Open roof vents
22. Open windows

23. Unlock awning and pull out
24. Secure awning with guy ropes
25. Pull out chairs, grab a refreshment and relax…
