Anyone who’s taken a caravan or camper into the Outback, particularly one that’s gas vented, will know it’s almost impossible to keep the fine dirt and dust from entering inside… and then trying to remove it all at the end of the trip!
We’ve discussed previously the various ‘mechanical’ ways there are available to deal with dust ingress while travelling, but there's also the problem of humans and pets bringing the not-so-great outdoors inside once set up at the campsite...

The UK’s Caravan Times has provided some useful advice on ways to enjoy mother nature without having it ruin your RV's pristine interior.
One tip is to adopt a strict no-shoes policy for inside your caravan. You can do this by keeping a tub of slip-ons like thongs by the entry door for quick footwear changes when zipping in and out.
Another tip particularly in winter is to fit a wipe-clean boot liner in your car boot, or perhaps something like this near the tow ball if you have a ute.

You could also use a boot scraper or brush to remove as much grime as possible from dirty footwear before going inside.
Having a stash of old towels handy in the car, or perhaps in an outside locker on your RV, to dry off pets and children before returning to the caravan, is another recommendation.

Finally, it’s a good idea to have a handheld vacuum cleaner or dustpan and brush handy (or perhaps a built-in unit), to tackle dirt immediately. Dealing with any mud, stains or spillages as soon as they happen will make it less likely for them to become ingrained in carpeting or upholstery (unless you've got fabric protection).
