Hitch Madigan hybrid gets new internal ensuite

Premium hard-shell hybrid pop-top now available with inside shower/toilet option

Queensland's Hitch Campers has unveiled a new 'SI' internal ensuite version of its first hybrid pop-top caravan, aimed at buyers after a few more creature comforts when off-grid camping.

The original Madigan SE hybrid launched in mid-2025 came with an elevated side fold-out shower/toilet platform with full shower curtain, that extended outside the camper body but was accessed from inside.

The new Hitch Madigan SI features a more conventional, rear internal corner ensuite enclosure, complete with solid walls and door and top 'splash' curtain, and with room to store a portable chemical or composting toilet on the shower floor.

To fit the new interior bathroom in, the SI Madigan is 200mm longer externally and internally, and 100mm wider than the original Madigan.

Multiple entries

Hitch Campers, which has a factory in Coomera, Queensland and also builds pod and truck campers, says a key advantage of the new SI layout is being able to enter the camper ensuite from either inside or outside, and also potentially use the toilet during roadside stops without having to raise the roof.

An offside entry door also means the ensuite can double as a 'wet room', so you can wash off sand from the beach, for example, while standing off the ground, and before entering the main internal living area.

The road ahead

Otherwise, the Hitch Madigan SI has the same Kimberley Karavan-style hard-shell powered roof lift, rear lift-up kitchen, upmarket composite build and premium standard equipment list as the Madigan SE.

Cruisemaster ATX Level 3 airbag suspension and a 400Ah lithium battery system with 600W solar are standard across the range.

The Madigan SI in the launch video boasts a tare weight of around 1700kg, to deliver an above-average payload of 1100kg.

Pricing for the Madigan SI hybrid starts at $117,990, or $3000 more than the Madigan SE.
