If you haven’t heard of Camplify already, you soon will: it’s the online peer-to-peer RV rental platform sensation that is still the biggest and fastest growing of its kind.
By partnering with thousands of owners and hirers for every type of RV, Camplify has a rare insight into what works and what doesn’t in an RV used in Australia. And now, with a wealth of rental experience behind it, Camplify has turned its attention to RV sales, recently launching its locally sourced Luxe Cruiser Campervan, a two-berth fully self-contained camper.
The Luxe Cruiser Campervan is based on the LDV Deliver 9 three-seater diesel automatic van, which can be driven on a standard car licence.
At $126,000 (plus on-road costs), this is not only at the more affordable end of the new large luxury campervan market – it is also enticing for its comprehensive features list.
The company has analysed market demands, resale value, and return on investment to ensure that the RVs it offers, such as the Luxe Cruiser Campervan, meet the highest standards for rental success or for personal use.
There is a lot of standard equipment to make camping a luxury affair in this Luxe Cruiser Campervan. It presents more like a well-made, one-off custom camper conversion than something mass-produced. It’s a real home away from home, built by Camplify’s partner, Free Roam Fitouts.
Stepping into the full-height camper conversion, you’re greeted by a comprehensive kitchen with its solid timber benchtop, ample storage above and below the bench and a deep sink. Other key features include a 188L fridge-freezer, two-burner stove, microwave oven and two slide-out tables (one at the nearside sliding door, the other at the rear doors). Both are strong enough to support up to 125kg.
Adjacent to the kitchen is the self-contained bathroom, a surprisingly roomy affair given this is a compact layout overall. Featuring a cassette toilet, LED light and exhaust fan, there’s also hot water available on demand via the instantaneous gas hot water service, served by the 4kg gas bottle that also feeds the gas cooker. There’s 100L of fresh water on tap and 38L of dedicated greywater storage.
Next up is the convertible dinette/bed. This can be set up as a four-seater lounge or dinette, or as a spacious and versatile bed. You have a choice of having a north-south or east-west bed configuration. Below the bed/dinette area is ample storage, with two large slide-out drawers. Above this area you’ll not only discover the slatted timber ceiling but also side lockers to ensure you have plenty of room for camping essentials. There’s no problem with payload: there’s a generous 600kg to play with.
Power for various camping needs is well covered, with 350W fixed solar panels on the roof feeding a 150Ah lithium battery. There’s also a 2000W inverter, a 240V/12V charger, and numerous USB, 12V and 240V outlets.
Of course, the double-glazed opening windows all have inbuilt flyscreens and block-out blinds, and there are also magnetic curtains for the large windows.
There are plenty of luxury features such as the Dometic Harrier Lite reverse-cycle air-conditioner, a Sirocco fan, a 24in smart TV with digital TV aerial, and interior ambient LED lighting. The outdoor living area is served by a Fiamma f45 awning and the convenient slide-out table at the van’s sliding door.
There are various options for the fit-out, including a roof rack and ladder ($2310), outdoor shower ($310), a Maxx Fan Deluxe ($540), nudge bar ($1020), a light bar ($785), and a towbar and wiring ($1760).
The Luxe Cruiser Campervan is based on the LDV Deliver 9, which was launched in Australia in 2020 with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces up to 108kW and 375Nm. It drives the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and has an 80L fuel tank and a 2800kg towing capacity.
Although the LDV stands quite tall, with an overall height of 2755mm, this results in an easy walk-in ceiling height of 2014mm. And with an overall length of 5940mmm and an overall width of 2466mm, you’ll be able to park easily in most open-air car parks, too.
The LDV is well-featured for both open-road touring and in town. Some of the many features include active cruise control, a 10-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth functionality, plus a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.
Camplify also offers other RVs through its partners, such as the smaller LDV G10-based Summer Series Campervan, as well as selected tow vehicles, too. For more information on Camplify’s Luxe Cruiser Campervan, visit Camplify or email vansales@camplify.com.au.
