Multi award winning caravan start-up Harvok is hoping to put another trophy in the cabinet, with the innovative Chinese-Australian RV brand in the running for a major prize in the 2023 Victorian Premier's Design Award.
The world first monocoque all-electric caravan is one of 28 finalists in the Product Design category of the 2023 Premier's Design Award, which was established by the Victorian Government in 1996 as a way "to highlight and celebrate local design capability".
Developed by Harvok's Melbourne-based CEO Ben Liu, the unique Harvok 19ft 6in tandem axle model is described on the Design Awards website as "the caravan equivalent to a premium luxury car".
"Constructed in a one-piece monocoque structure, it has no mechanical joints and features patented monocoque technology and a patented power system."
Other finalists in the Product Design category at the 2023 Awards include the Slideaway sofa bed, Quad Lock Mag phone mount, Foli acoustic light and the Headlokt bike and skateboarding helmet that is described as the "first helmet that’s also a lock".
The Highly Commended and Best in Category winners for the 2023 Victorian Premier's Design Awards will be announced in April 2024.
The Chinese-built Harvok caravans, now available with a lighter all aluminium body construction, have picked up a string of awards since first hitting the market in late-2021, including Best New RV in the 2022 caravancampingsales Innovation Awards, Good Design Award Winner at the 2022 Good Design Australia Awards, and another category award at a prestigious international design and architecture annual awards.
