Hardkorr launches affordable toy hauler camper

Tough new HKC Xplorer off-roader can carry up to three dirt bikes and is priced from $45,000

Hardkorr Campers is releasing a new toy hauler off-road camper, that it reckons is the only one of its type on the Aussie market with a built-in ladder and priced under $100,000.

Making its public debut at the 2025 Lets Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo, the new HKC Xplorer toy hauler is based on the same platform as the HKC Xplorer 2.2E bush camper, but features a tandem-axle set-up with large open storage up back for transporting the motorised toys on your next camping trip.

"We've basically chopped the box in half and put a load carrier up back so you can carry two or three dirt bikes or an ATV," explained Hardkorr's Tony Taylor.

With a Tare of approximately 1800kg and ATM of 3000kg, the new Xplorer toy hauler features an integrated staircase for easier access to the rooftop tent and its 180mm thick mattress, along with a 270 degree awning, while for off-grid camping there's a 120L water tank and a 270Ah lithium battery system with 3000W inverter, for powering the induction cooktop that's part of the outside kitchen.

The Chinese-built toy hauler also gets a galvanised chassis, aluminum body, dual shock coil suspension and alloy wheels with mud terrain tyres as part of its off-road package, while there are also a few internal storage compartments for safe storage of your gear.

Available on its camper range for the past two years, Hardkorr says its patented, drawbar-mounted integrated staircase is a "first in the industry... making tent access safer and easier for everyone".

The new Xplorer toy hauler will retail for around $45,000, or about $6000 more than the single axle Xplorer 2.2E trailer on which its largely based.

Meanwhile, Hardkorr is also taking pre-orders for another recent release; a new entry-level compact bush camper called the Xplorer ST.

Priced from $24,995, the twin-berth camper comes standard with all the basics you need for an off-road getaway including rooftop tent with integrated staircase, 100Ah AGM battery and 170W solar panel, 100L water tanks and 3900 litre internal storage capacity, mud tyres, off-road suspension, slide-out kitchen bench and a 270 degree awning.

Tare weight is approximately 1100kg with a 2000kg ATM, and a number of upgrades and options are available.

While they're currently advertised on the Hardkorr website, Tony Taylor also said the Queensland-based business would no longer be selling its larger Outback Xplorer caravans, due to the amount of rivals and cost-cutting going on at the moment in the crowded sub-$90K caravan market in which they compete.
