Guilt-free car wash

The Aussie-built Car Cube is a portable pressure washer that doesn't need mains power or a garden hose

You plug it into an accessory outlet or battery pack, and then one fill of the 13L tank provides 10 minutes of pressurised water. This means that an average car or bike can be washed in less than two buckets of water. In comparison, a regular pressure cleaner uses 66L and a commercial car wash uses up to 80L in 10 minutes.

If filled with a bucket from the tap, the Car Cube currently complies with most water restriction rules across the country. It also operates effectively using tank or recylced water. It does not, however, pump water with detergent; but if you use half a bucket of suds for laterhing, you should be able to wash an average car with less than 20L.

Its portability means that washing down by the beach or out bush is easy, so it could come in useful for rinsing down caravans, boats, 4WDs, trail bikes, camping gear and the like, while apartment dwellers may also be interested.

The Car Cube sells for $159 from Repco, Autobarn, Bias Boating and leading independents. For further information, visit www.carcube.com.au
