Granny Hamburgers

Hamburgers and rissoles, in fact any minced meat formed into patties and cooked, are great comfort food

They're also really easy to do and I just love them.

This is another twist on the traditional hamburger recipe but the fruit adds a sweet taste to the finished product.

Ingredients:

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small Granny Smith apple (skin optional), grated
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Wet your hands before shaping the patties into whatever size you like and cook them over a moderate heat until ready.

Serve with some steamed vegetables or build yourself a big fat Hamburger and wash it down with a frothy brown coldy. Don't worry about the fact it may be Monday night (which is our designated alcohol-free day). After all, you're on holidays aren't you?
