Big-selling RV manufacturer Avan has added a rugged new hybrid camper to its off-road oriented Golf range.
On display at the recent Queensland Caravan Supershow, the new Golf X265 is like a cross between a Windsor Hybrid and a Jayco JPod with its rugged off-road underpinnings, slide-out kitchen and full-width rear entry door leading to a compact two-berth interior.
The lightweight Golf X265 hybrid camper trailer (265 refers to the 2650mm/8ft 8in long body), measures 2200m high and 4600mm long (overall) and tips the scales at 985kg (tare), with an ATM of 1285kg.
Constructed using a hot dipped galvanized chassis and Avan’s composite aluminium panels, the Golf X265 runs independent trailing arm suspension, Al-Ko off-road coupling, 10in electric brakes, stone guard, and alloy wheels with chunky off-road tyres.
Other equipment fitted includes a 60 litre water tank with 12V pump and hot water system, 100Ah battery system with dual 80W solar panels and battery charger, a 9kg gas bottle with external gas bayonet, and a front toolbox with generator slide.
The slide-out stainless kitchen incorporates a sink, cooktop and 30 litre compressor fridge, while other external features include 12V LED lighting, jerry can holders, drop-down stabilisers and an external shower.
The cosy interior features a double mattress and a roof vent and two windows with screens and blinds, some shelving and underbed storage, a small table and limited floorspace at the foot of the bed.
The Brisbane Supershow display model had a show special price of $25,990 (reduced from a RRP $31,490), although it’s currently advertised for $27,990 drive-away.
