Goldstream targets off-road junkies

New, head-turning extreme off-road van and ‘outdoor living’ camper from popular Melbourne manufacturer

Goldstream RV is known for its rough road vans and campers, but the 21-year-old Pakenham, Victoria manufacturer is really targeting off-road junkies with two new models unveiled at Melbourne Leisurefest.

The 19ft Rhino caravan on display at the show is arguably Goldstream’s most off-road capable, and most expensive, model to date, with just about everything fitted for a luxury, long-term Outback adventure.

??Off-road goodies include heavy-duty air bag independent suspension, cutaway rear back, laminated galvanized floor, Hitchmaster DO35 hitch, 16in alloy wheels with Mickey Thompson rubber, side scrub bars and checkerplate protection, while remote campers will appreciate the 240 litre water capacity, two deep-cycle batteries and 180W solar system.

It’s all luxury inside though, with a spacious full width front ensuite with washing machine, leather-clad dinette, 190 litre fridge, Fusion entertainment system, and Goldstream’s latest CNC cut, high gloss furniture.??

With a 'sale price' of $93,990, the Rhino is also one of the first Aussie caravans fitted with the latest Truma Combi gas hot water/air heater, and also comes with a unique glass splashback ‘3D mural’ behind the double bed that buyers can option with any picture they desire.

Also setting the Rhino caravan apart from other full-size off-roaders is striking ‘Rhino’ decals on the grey 3mm aluminium composite panels, complemented by blue painted scrubs bars and suspension arms.?

Goldstream also released a new ‘pop-top’ camper variant at Leisurefest, aimed at bush campers who prefer cooking outdoors.?

The new Thunder camper trailer replaces the usual indoor kitchen set-up with an external stainless steel kitchen slide-out featuring a sink with tap, two-burner cooktop and separate BBQ hotplate.??

While you miss out on a ‘foul weather’ kitchen, the upside is heaps more internal storage and benchtop space inside, to go with the double beds at each end and roomy dinette/lounge.?

Other features on the $44,990 (sale price) Thunder camper included off-road coil independent suspension, roll-out awning, roof-top air-conditioner, outside shower, 110 litre compressor fridge, 80W solar panel and radio-CD player with external speakers. Tare weight came in at 1512kg.
