Get the jab at Queensland show

Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination site at this week's Brisbane caravan show

You won't need a vaccination passport to attend this year's Let's Go Caravan & Camping Sale in Brisbane, but you will be able to get the jab between browsing for a new caravan, with show organisers teaming up with Queensland Health to provide a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic as part of the show.

The walk-in clinic will be located within the Brisbane Showgrounds during the four-day event, which runs October 28-31 and is expected to attract up to 20,000 visitors.

Queensland is due to re-open borders to New South Wales and Victoria by December 17 but the state is lagging behind the bigger East Coast states in its percentage of fully vaccinated residents aged over 16; hitting the 60 per cent 'double dose' milestone this week compared to Victoria's 75 per cent and NSW's 85 per cent.

“The caravan industry, spanning manufacturing, retail and service providers, has experienced unprecedented growth during the pandemic and we make every effort to provide travellers with the information to hit the road safely, now this includes the opportunity to get vaccinated if they wish,” Caravanning Queensland Trade CEO Jason Plant said.

“Caravan and recreational vehicle sales have been a major contributor to the Queensland economy over the last 20 months and now it’s time to encourage those new and seasoned caravanners to return to travelling and support the tourism sector right across Queensland.

“To do this, we’re happy to provide the opportunity for any of our visitors who are wanting a vaccine to get vaccinated at the Let’s Go Brisbane Caravan & Outdoor Show this weekend."

Show tickets cost $14 for adults and are only available online. A pre-purchased event ticket also includes free travel on any train on the Queensland Rail City Network train, including a special show train (loop service) that will travel direct to the Brisbane Showgrounds.
