A new off-road and adventure travel series is about to hit free-to-air TV.
Kicking off in early November, The Offroad Adventure Show promises a weekly fix of everything that’s great about the Australian outdoors, combining iconic off-road locations with action-packed four-wheel driving and camping, while throwing in some thrill-seeking activities, fishing and bush cooking for good measure.
Presenters include fishing competitor and four-wheel-drive video and magazine journalist Rick O’Brien, well-known fishing writer Steve ‘Starlo’ Starling, 4WD touring specialist Jamie Hazelden, and former Miss Australia Caroline Pemberton, who is described as a “thrill seeker, adventurer and outdoor enthusiast”.
Professional chef and a regular on popular TV show ‘Ready Steady Cook”, Adrian Richardson, is also on board to show off his skills in bush style cooking.
According to The Offroad Adventure Show website, one of the aims of the program “is to show you just how easy and affordable it really can be to get out and experience some the country’s very best adventures, without breaking the bank to do it”.
And the proof is in the pudding with O’Brien’s personal transport during filming a 25-year old, modified 60 Series LandCruiser. While the rest of the team get around in slightly more sophisticated Land Rover Defenders.
The show looks promising judging by details of the first two episodes (and the promo video below), which include visits to Arkaroola in the Flinders Ranges and a bash down the SkyTrek 4WD track at nearby Willow Springs.
The Offroad Adventure Show airs on Channel 10 on Sundays at 1pm from November 2, with repeats on One HD on Saturday at midday from November 8.
