Experienced caravan park professional Margaret Shannon is the winner of the 2018 caravancampingsales Future Leader Award, presented at this year’s Caravan Industry Association of Australia’s National Conference on the Gold Coast.
With around 15 years experience in the hospitality industry, Shannon is currently general manager at Ballina Beach Village holiday park on the NSW coastline. Before that she was the Park Operations and Marketing Manager at BIG4 Great Lakes Holiday Park at Forster-Tuncurry. She has a bachelor degree in tourism and marketing and has also held roles in the cruising and catering industries.
She beat six other finalists for the $10,000 study prize, including AL-KO marketing manager Brad Hooper, Next Generation Holiday Parks CEO Daniel Tilton, Jessica Dineen from the Noosa River Holiday Park, GoRv Managing Editor Max Taylor, Caravan Repair Centre Operation Manager Renee Napthali and Redarc Technical and Training Manager, Stuart Peddle.
It’s the third year in a row that the prestigious prize has gone to a woman, following Murray River caravan park general manager April Whiston in 2017 and New Age Caravans CEO Gabby Montagnese in 2016.
Another major award winner at this year’s conference was caravan industry veteran Ron Cregan, who received the Eric Hayman Award for Excellence.
