A clever new user-friendly and odourless caravan toilet and a cut-price set of powered stabiliser legs that take all the hard work out of setting up a caravan, are turning heads at the 2025 Queensland Caravan & Camping Supershow which runs June 4-8 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
Described as the "world’s first mobile, waterless and odourless welding toilet", the Swiss-made Clesana C1 operates similarly to a regular electric cassette toilet, except it uses a heat-sealing foil-bag-system that securely seals the waste at the push of a button.
Clesana Australia Director, Sebastian Langton said the Clesana C1 overcomes many of the bugbears of other RV toilet systems available on the market.
“It wipes out so many of the odour, waste handling and environmental and health issues that come with many types of cassette, chemical, composting and ‘dry fluid’ toilets, where waste does not seal properly,” he told Outback Travel Australia.
“The pongs and waste that go in the bag, stay in the bag and nothing needs to be manually sorted, scraped, or handled," he said.
The waste bags come in a continuous roll which cost around $25 each, providing up to 50 uses depending on the size chosen to seal the bag. The bags can be safely disposed in general waste, eliminating dump point trips.
Retail price on the Clesana Australia website is $3499.95, and it's already been adopted by a number of Aussie caravan manufacturers including Zone RV, which we believe is now fitting the Clesana C1 toilet as standard to its top-spec Summit model.
Meanwhile, Melbourne-based RV accessories distributor Caravan & Camping Aus is spruiking its latest remote-controlled self-levelling system for caravans, on its stand at the Brisbane showgrounds.
Displayed on a mini-chassis, the four fold-away legs automatically descend at the press of a button, and unlike traditional corner steadies, they're weight-bearing so designed to lift and level a full-size caravan without buckling.
The new battery powered bolt-on kit has already seen action on at least one Aussie-built caravan: the 4500kg ATM Kokoda Counterstrike Vincere unveiled earlier this year.
There wasn't much information available about them at the show, but we were told it costs around $2900 for the kit, so they appear to be a cheaper alternative to the Redfoot hydraulic levelling system introduced last year, which retails for more than $5000 (see video below).
