Fresh look for classic Ultimate camper
Compact, lightweight off-road camper gets revamp including upgraded specification after 20 yearsJust over 12 months after unveiling its radical, new range-topping Nautilus off-road caravan, NSW-based Ultimate Offroad Campers will display its recently revamped, mid-range camper trailer at this year’s Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Holiday Show.
Featuring a fresh new exterior look including new livery and name change, the latest Xplor camper replaces the Elite model that has been in production for almost 20 years.
According to Ultimate, “the colour scheme and shaping of the protective coating have been re-designed to accentuate the aerodynamic contours of the iconic camper whilst giving it a contemporary look”.
Designed to go anywhere your 4WD tow vehicle dares to venture, the 850kg (Tare) Xplor features a high-tensile Duragal chassis, independent trailing arm suspension with Koni shocks, and a water-tight, fibreglass composite body the makers claim would float if submerged.
Featuring an off-the-ground, canvas covered, flip-out bedroom with king size bed, the upgraded model has more storage space in the nosecone (1340 litres) and a better-equipped electrical system including dual 100Ah AGM deep-cycle batteries, CTEK 15A charger, and Redarc 25A DC-DC charger.
Other standard features include a 118 litre compressor fridge, two-burner cooktop, ‘luxury’ L-shaped lounge, 16in brushed steel rims, 110 litre water tank with guage and electric pump, LED lights and a full-length front awning.
A new external kitchen that includes a single burner gas cooker and bench top that attaches to the side of the camper and is stored in the nosecone, has been added to the options list.
All up 39 options are available, including extra canvas rooms and awnings, Fusion entertainment system, hot water systems, and wine and bike racks.
Ultimate Campers' Michael Hackett described the Xplor, which is priced from $49,950, as an “evolution” of the “classic” Elite camper.
“The chassis and overall shape are the same so our customers will still be getting the lightweight, durable and innovative camper that they have come to expect from us,” he said.
